Home Remedies for Minor Skin Burns
You are getting your pizza out of the oven and your hand accidentally slips and touches the pan. At first you think it is no big deal but a few seconds pass and the pain of your burn really starts to worsen.You then notice that there is a burn on your hand! It is something that happens to people all the time.
Because it happens so often, it’s important to know how to heal it with items that you already have at home so you can take care of the problem right away.
Below, you will read about five things in your home that will help soothe the pain of a burn you have recently gotten.
1. Potato Peels
Potato peels are great for treating a minor burn! Cut off a bit of the potato and simply place it over your burn. This will help keep down the redness of the burn as well as stop some of the pain. This is a very simple way to treat your burn as you don’t need to do anything special with the potato.
This is actually a good method to treat a number of different types of wounds. You can apply a number of different peels until the pain calms down without having a potato peel on it.
2. Baking Soda
Baking soda doesn’t help make the burn go away or reduce the redness but it does help stop the pain. Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda onto the burn and let it sit for about fifteen minutes. You can then wipe it away. If you still feel a bit of pain around the area of the burn, you can reapply more but you should only apply a small amount each time. You can repeat this many times throughout the day if needed.
3. Aloe Vera
Small thin slices of an Aloe Vera leaf will work wonders at healing the burn you have on your skin. I’m sure you’ve heard Aloe Vera in many different types of skin creams, lotions and more. This is because it is amazing for the skin! It heals dry skin, cracked skin and more. So of course it will work well with relieving the pain that your burn is causing as well as the redness and swelling.
Honey is great as speeding up the process of your burn healing. It can be a bit messy as honey is incredibly sticky but you will love how it soothes your skin. Simply apply the honey to your burn either with the back of a spoon or your fingers. Let it sit on the burn for a while and then rinse it off with cool water. Don’t use hot water! That will make the burn feel even worse.
5. Water And/Or Milk
As soon as you get the burn on your skin, run cool or room temperature water over it. This will help stop the pain that you get immediately following the burn as well as stopping it from spreading even further. You can also use milk as a way to stop the pain and spreading of your burn.
